Kevin James Schwantz was born in Paige Texas on the 19th of June 1964
His parents owned a motorcycle dealership so it is no surprise that he
Chose motorcycles as a way of making a living
Kevin learned at the knee of his uncle and mentor Darryl Hurst
Who had carried the number 34 plate after taking it over from Kevins father
Who had first used it in his racing days Kevin was later to make the 34 plate
Legendary.
He first came to the attention of the british race fans in the Easter USA v GB
Transatlantic trophy series quickly gathering a loyal following not just through
His results but with his no fear balls out riding style
His grand prix career saw him win 25 races take 29 pole positions and 26 fastest
Laps in a ten years of racing in the premier class winning one world championship
Along the way. He is probably best remembered for his epic battles with Wayne Rainey with one particular race in which they swapped positions and paint the whole race often regarded as one of the best races of all time he made the Lucky Strike colours and especially the number 34 plate famous the number was retired when he retired from racing praise indeed from the governing body

I have been following his success since he stopped riding for us. He tried too hard and sometimes fell, because he was pushing himself. He put the pressure on himself to perform.”
